Sausage and Potato Casserole Recipe

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef (sausage or breakfast)

4 cups diced potatoes (or frozen hash browns)

1 small onion, chopped

2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella or a mixture)

1 can cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup milk

Salt and pepper to taste

Chopped green onions for garnish

Butter to grease the dish

PREPARATION:

Preheat the oven  : Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking dish with butter.

Cook sausages  : In a large skillet, cook sausages over medium heat until browned. Break into small pieces as they cook. Drain excess fat and set aside.

Prepare the potatoes  : If using fresh potatoes, boil them until slightly tender, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and set aside. If using frozen hash browns, there is no need to precook them.

Mix ingredients  : In a large bowl, combine cooked sausage, potatoes, chopped onion, shredded cheese, soup, sour cream and milk. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assembly  : Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

Baking  : Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Garnish and serve  : Once cooked, remove from oven and let sit for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
